so what is life like nowadays?
well, we wouldn't be andy and liz if we weren't up to something.
we're moving...
to a different apartment in portland! so have no fear! we're in portland to stay (at least for a while).
but as our lease was up this month, we decided to shop around for a new apartment as our current one is too far out of the city. we can't bike anywhere and it takes us over 2 hours on the bus to really get downtown. so alas, we shall move.
in actuality we are really excited. our new apartment is SUPER small - especially compared to the 1000+ sq. feet we have now. but it's adorable. hard wood floors, brand new ikea kitchen, black and white checkered floors in the kitchen and bathroom, raised beds for gardening, and, the biggest plus, less than a mile from andy's seminary. so all in all, the downsize in space is outweighed by the location. did i mention we are also next door to our grocery store and petco? so we move in a month and now get to engage in the joys of moving. pictures will come soon.

(they are all on etsy - http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7106121.) yesterday, andy hauled his paintings over to whole foods for his first art walk. it was such a good experience for us (him). almost every person who walked by complimented andy or paused to take a second look. and one woman is buying one, maybe two, of his paintings. his work is so beautiful - i'm just so grateful strangers took the time to tell him so as well. if you would ever like to commission a painting, andy would be more than willing to paint whatever you so desire! :) p.s. i feel like a total "stage mom". hehe.
in other news, my family just came for a vist: my dad came for the weekend, my mom stayed the whole week, and my sister flew out for exactly 24 hours as a surprise for my mom. it was much needed week of adventures and amazing food and family fun. we feel so lonely now that the apartment is back to just andy, polly, and me. anyone up for a trip to portland? :)
finally, andy has been loving his classes @ western seminary. he comes home every morning with a huge smile and/or a burst of things to share with me about what he's been learning. we're so blessed that he has been able to spend the majority of his time painting and studying - just as we had hoped. praise god!
well... i'm off to andy's sunday night service where andy leads worship.
we'll be sure to post photos of our upcoming events: the new apartment, andy's art showing @ portland's famous last thursday, and my trip to california next weekend to visit betsy (courtesy of my uber generous parents).

Ah, pictures, pictures! Some of Polly, too! I am glad that you are staying busy - it can be very lonely to move so far from family and all the people who really care about you. I cried for hours when I found out where we were being appointed in June. Truthfully, it takes 2-3 years before you actually feel "home" in a new city. Getting out and making your own memories can help.
Tell Andy I am so jealous that he is spending all that time in the Greek and Hebrew. Today, I am doing a word study on how "cling" (strongs #1692) is used in the OT. For the next 6 weeks I am focused on my favorite chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119. I am just on verses 25-32, and discovered that the word is used twice in that stanza, in different ways. So I am on the hunt for the reason. I'll never sleep tonight...
