Next, @ 9:00 p.m. is our flight to Seattle, then @ 2:00ish a.m., we fly to Taipei, Taiwan.
Side note: thanks to my AMAZING dad who swindled his way into the hearts of American Airlines, we received a free upgrade to first class for our Chicago-Portland leg. It was fan-tas-tic: big seats, extra reclining, lunch, warm cookies, and a flight attendant who must of asked us, "Do you need anything else?" about 32 times. I feel especially spoiled right now.
As I aforementioned, we are spending the day at Portland Airport because we're poor and don't want to spend money on a taxi... the upside is that there is a Frank Sinatra-like singer who is serenading us and free WiFi during our eight hour layover.
I can hardly believe this is it... that we have quit our jobs, moved, packed, and hugged our goodbyes until Christmastime.
July just flew. Andy and my family were incredible with the move. Thanks to my MEGA distance course, I spent most of July typingtypingtyping my 22 papers (I still have 2 to go and my final - uh!), all the while Carol, Senor, Katie, and Andy (and Tim and Lindsay) packed up our lives and moved us out of 983 E. Maplewood (see below). We are sad to leave, but excited to take our first real married adventure; if we could only bring all of you (and POLLY!) with, life would be ideal.
As we flew over Portland, our hearts pounded with excitement that this will be our new home come January. It is so refreshing to see land and trees and mountains without houses flooding the landscape. Not to say that Portland is altogether vacant, but it is lighter (people-wise).
PLUS... prepare yourself for my dorkiness, Portland is so environmentally friendly! I could hardly believe my eyes when I went into the bathroom and saw their eco-friendly toilets. Pull one way on the flusher for liquid waste and pull down for solid... all in the name of conserving water. Hallelujah for a state that cares. (see photos below :). OK, you may now roll your eyes.
Alright, that is it for now. On to classwork and iTunes and exploring every inch of this airport in the name of wasting time. Please comment on our blog and/or write to us; we already miss our family and friends so much!

ps don't count on the first class jollies happening again as it was a fluke of luck due to the airlines changing your flight to a 2 stop instead of a direct flight - but yes your dad is a charmer to get you the upgrade..hehe
